New Ad: Kemp’s Dangerous and Extreme Gun Agenda Puts Georgia Children’s and Families’ Lives At Risk

One Georgia Ad Highlights Kemp’s Dangerous and Extreme Gun Law to Make It Easier For Criminals To Carry Hidden, Loaded Guns in Public

Kemp Signed His Gun Law As Gun Violence Becomes Leading Killer of Georgia Children

ATLANTA – Today, One Georgia launched a new statewide television ad focusing on Brian Kemp’s dangerous agenda on guns, including his gun law that makes it easier for criminals to carry hidden, loaded guns in public. The ad also features a nurse  describing the horrors of gun violence in Brian Kemp’s Georgia.

“Brian Kemp’s dangerous and extreme gun agenda puts Georgians’ lives at risk – guns are the leading killer of children in Georgia and Kemp’s criminal carry law makes our children less safe,” said Alex Floyd, spokesman for One Georgia. “Even after horrific mass shootings and rising violent crime, Kemp is still ignoring law enforcement to double down on his dangerous gun law that makes it easier for criminals to carry hidden, loaded guns in public while he holds on to $50,000 in campaign contributions from the maker of the AR-15 used in Uvalde. Once again, Brian Kemp is choosing to put himself and his donors ahead of keeping Georgia children safe.”

The pediatric nurse featured in the ad explains how guns are now the leading cause of death for children in Georgia. But Brian Kemp is still touting his dangerous and extreme gun law proposals while accepting $50,000 from the very manufacturer of the AR-15 used in the murder of 19 school children and two teachers in Uvalde, Texas.

Kemp already drew widespread condemnation after he pointed a gun at a boy on television to score cheap political points before telling Georgians upset by him aiming a gun at a child to “get over it.” Now, even though 70% of Georgians are against his dangerous “criminal carry” law, which many law enforcement officials and Georgia mayors also oppose, Kemp still won’t back down from his dangerous agenda that will cost Georgians’ lives.

The ad, “Enough,” can be viewed here. A transcript follows:

As a pediatric nurse practitioner in Georgia, we see domestic violence. We see gun violence.

The leading cause of death for young people in Georgia isn’t car crashes. It’s firearms.

That’s why Governor Kemp’s new gun law that makes it easier for criminals to carry loaded guns in public is not only irresponsible, it’s directly harmful to Georgia’s children and families.

This is a guy who pointed a gun at a boy on television.

Enough is enough.
